Friday was a gorgeous fall day. Skye and I biked on the greenway
It’s been so long since we biked! It was so fun and beautiful….but I about died – skye has one speed: turbo….I tried to keep up 😉
Then Wes got home in time for supper! His favorite: taco pockets
My attempt at a family photo of all of us eating supper: didn’t actually get wil and skye in there….dave didn’t know we were taking the photo…Wes and I were being silly, taco pockets are the LEAST photogenic of all the food. AND we have not one, but two bottles of ketchup on the table 🙂
So good to have our college boy home!
The next morning we got up and parked at white oak and took the shuttle to the fair.
First stop and first priority – get mom a candy apple!
The morning was amazing….a cool breeze…(I promise I am holding Skye’s popcorn and lemonade…at that point in the day I’d only eaten the candy apple!)
This was Wil’s photography skills at work – Wes and me with the Ferris wheel!
We got to see lots of friends- Saturday was the day to be at the fair – us and really everyone in the greater Raleigh area, it felt like 🙂
Beautiful cakes and quilts
Our only family photos!!!
The rides were so fun…the absolute best is the sizzler (which we used to call the scrambler when I was a kid) skye and I just laughed the whole time
Fried Milky Way
Such a great time as a family! Later on in the day is got so hot and very very crowded…we have always gone on a week night in the past and been spoiled with that more laid back fair approach…so maybe next year wes needs to skip classes and come home on Thursday night! 😉
Sunday pictures! A lovely day at church together
And lunch at Culver’s to wrap up a sweet weekend with our college boy. We love you Wes! And miss you!!
It looks like you had a wonderful weekend! Such special times together to keep you until Wes’ next weekend home! It is nice that you are close enough to get occasional visits. I wish that we lived closer and could spend time together, too! I’m looking forward to some family time in January with all of the Carlson siblings and spouses – first time since Grandma’s funeral that we will all be together.

The photo of the dog quilt…the quilter is part of the Fuquay “Southern Wake Quilters Guild!” I took a class with her recently, and it made me think of you. It was called “Crumb Quilting.” You basically take small fabrics of random sizes and sew them any direction you want. Once you have a decent sized square or rectangle, you cut it to a specific size, then start over. She uses up a lot of small pieces of fabric that way.
