This is where we started. We wanted to rip out the old gray carpet and put in the bamboo hardwoods we have in the rest of the downstairs. This carpet!!! We’ve had it for 15 years, and it’s been hardy – but I’m soo ready to say goodbye to it!
Are you ready for the journey from start to finish?!
I wish I had a photo of pulling the carpet out…I love taking carpet out, it’s therapeutic ….taking out each little staple…it’s very satisfying to get it all out and sweep away the dust.

First milestone: floors are in!!! Yay!

Next step: find the rug! I found this at target and LOVE it!
Ok this next step is my favorite…we decided it was time to scrape the popcorn ceiling and then paint walls…I found the perfect color for an accent wall…
drum roll:

Sherwin Williams Iron Ore! I absolutely love this dark charcoal color. It was my way of not painting another black wall – HAHA…
This article really helped me settle on Iron Ore. lots of examples of rooms painted with this color.

Add the bed…

Play around with pillows and blankets

Add art – eek!! It’s coming together!

The same curtains still work, mostly the same art, same duvet cover from ikea (I love that duvet cover!)

Printed out this photo of us in Sedona

My oval green needlepoint finally has a perfect spot!

SNEAK PEEK! I had Dave hold up the ikea light fixture so you can see how that will look once we install it.

How’s this for a before and after?! Dirty laundry and all 😉

So cozy now!

Just one more…what a difference Iron Ore paint can make!
I’m not quite finished with the opposite side of the room, I’ll keep you posted 🙂 is anyone else out there doing renovations? Would love to hear!
